      If you're referring to the alarm which beeps with a small horn when you lock with the key, then no.

      If it's a dealer fit Scorpion alarm with remote, then yes.

          Thanks Mike, is that a Cat 1 approval? Which model number Scorpion is it?

            Having had this alarm on several Audis, I am reasonably certain that it is a Scorpion alarm, model 918.

            This appears on page 33 of the Thatcham report linked above, in the section entitled category 2 --> category 1. Does this mean that it is now rated as cat1?

              cool and the gang. in the blurb it says that cat 2 -->> cat 1 means an "alarm upgrade" of a cat 2 device to full cat 1 status.

                Very very few factory fitted alarms are Thatcham approved and if they were a lack of VSIB certificate will mean the insurers wont accept it.

                Only in the later produced cars are they that standard.

                  Are you saying this is the case with this particular alarm?

                    Not exactly, what i'm saying is if your current insurers require a VSIB certificate they probably wont accept the alarm.

                    Some insurers don't require it some do in my experience.

                      Following on from my last post, you can have your alarm inspected to get a VSIB certificate.

                      I know that the previous owner of my car had this done (the alarm wasn't factory standard though)

                        May be me but I get a bit confused by this, seems to change from Insurance company to company.
                        I was under the impression that CAT1 had to have both an alarm and immobiliser fitted, but on different circuits. Well thats what a couple of insurance companies told me.
                        My current insurer - Noel Dazely - were happy to accept the stock Audi alarm and immo system fitted.

                          Can anyone suggest a good supplier of immobiliser's ? My insurers also want to see a certificate.

                          I have decided I will have to get an immobiliser fitted but dont want to pay over the odds. Anyone know a supplier in the suffolk area (or a national supplier who come to your home) who they can recommend ???

                              pastures16, from the codes that I have, your sticker translates to the following. I do have a complete list somewhere, but cannot find it)....

                              ABY = Later 230BHP engine
                              AZE CGR = Trans Code:

                              1BE = Sports Version, Lowered 20mm

                              Interestingly, there are specific codes for the alarms fitted, such as
                              9V1 = anti-theft alarm system
                              9V6 = anti-theft alarm system with immobiliser
                              9V9 = anti-theft alarm system "GB"

                              But these never seem to be quoted on the stickers (well, never on any of my Audis anyway). This is true of other things too, such as
                              8X1 headlight washer
                              9GB interior light with delayed switch-off
                              9Q1 on-board computer
                              All of which I have, but none are quoted
