    Heated washer jets

I've done a search on this and seems not to have been covered before.
Recent weather has shown both my washer jets mustn't heat anymore, both were frozen last night leaving work at 00.30am. Temp was showing -2.5c so not that cold.
I'm presuming both are heated as FA states you need two.
I have two brand spankers here, part numbers "8D0 955 988" (ebay bargain a few months back)
Anyone removed them from the bonnet before?, looking in the factory manual seems like it looks an easy job, but then they always do.
Any tips? oh, and when is the heating element inside activated? are they constantly on? or are they switched on with say rear screen heater like the mirrors?

    TIA

I think if you haven't got an under bonnet light (Aby's didn't I think) but still have wiring going from the body to the bonnet just above the fusebox area, then thats a good bet that you have them.

Good question, I should have looked before. The owners manual has the little * so seems they are optional. Also states they come on with the ignition. If thats the case then I'm not suprised they aren't working anymore after 10 years.
So, if you don't have an under bonnet light, but still have a small loom going to the bonnet, then looks like your car will have them. If you do have an under bonnet light, then who knows

Right, just got to get the old ones out without breaking anything.

It was standard on that MY check link with magnifying glasses ..http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/audi_docs/1...ure/page44.jpg
However it will not stop the exit jets freezing in current weather although its clearly warm down your way.....-7oC overnight here
The heated area is a section of the washer piping IIFC but is less than useful when really cold as the solution will refreeze on screen !

Thanks Alastair. You know me, if it's fitted and doesn't work then it's got to be sorted. So I'll don my hat and scarf and set about it tomorrow.

Here's what they look like for future reference.
