Sometimes my ignition key wont turn?

Twice now I have put the key in the ignition (with the steering lock off) and I couldn't get the key to turn as if the steering lock was engaged. After a little wiggling and pushing of the key I was able to turn it and start her up.

Is this symptomatic of the peg in the ignition barrell about to fail? So I'm looking at replacing the barrell before I end up stranded somewhere right?

    Thanks for any help fellas.

    Nuvo.

...Could also be a worn key, or a badly cut duplicate.

Thanks fellas. The key is the original so it might be a little worn (I hadn't thought of that). I've gone and bought a replacement lock cylinder this morning too

Oh well, I'll compare my usual key with my spare. Is it possible to order a newly cut key which includes the little button/bulb in the fob aka a 'torch'

        Nuvo.

UPDATE: I Compared the original vs the spare and I couldn't see any obvious signs of wear. Can anyone help with info on how to retumble the replacement cylinder to accept my original key as I don't really want to mess around with one key to start the car and another to lock the boot/glove box.

Take the replacement lock cylinder to your local locksmith, along with your current key, the'll sort it out for not too much money.
