    Headlamp Problem....

    Folks

My mate has a UR S4 with the same Eillipsoid type Headlamps as my 95 S2.

They are absolutely c**p on dipped beam but ok on full beam

There is no apparent corrosion in the reflectors and he has just changed the bulbs with little improvement.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or is it a dreaded new set?

    Cheers

The S4 lamps are a nightmare!! I think that the biggest problem is that the projector lens gets cloudy over time so you lose a lot of light there. You can try taking the lamps apart (fairly straightforward) and cleaning the lenses with alcohol but I'm not sure this will improve things much! I'm running an Extreme HID Xenon kit from Martyn at Vagparts which has improved things a lot (Do a search for HID on the forum). It's also less than half the price of a new set of headlamps!! I'm also thinking about buying a new set of A6/S6 lamps and trying to use their projectors to replace mine as they may well be the same as the S4 and are much cheaper and easier to get hold of. Even then it's bit of an expensive trial whether it works or not! If it was me and I could afford it I would definately try the HID Kit. It really is worth the money and looks cool too! Good luck!
