    LED sidelight bulbs

Has anybody seen what these LED sidelight bulbs look like ?

I'm looking for a match with Martyn's HID headlamp kit and wondered if the blue ones were any better than the PIAA Extreme White or Plasma bulbs ?

Or are they like the washer jets & tyre valve covers & just for the Max Power Saxo brigade ?

Seen then working in real life, they are a bit borderline those things, like too blue. The xxtreme white are a closer match and much cheaper than the LED's!

The piaa xtreme white wedges are good - Martyn and I have them.

I can take some pics of them if you want - I'm sure they still work on my car!

        LED sidelight bulbs

Thanks Doug. A pic would be good.

What about the Plasma bulbs. Are they too blue aswell (5000k vs Extreme White 4150K) ?

They also do the LED bulbs in Blue/White with one blue LED & 1 white. Maybe these would work....

I'd just go for the PIAA standard blue bulbs like doug and me have. Otherwise when MOT time come round they could fail you on the LED bulbs since there not road legal at the moment i dont think.

Are these only compatible with hid kits/ellipsoid lamps,
                how much do they cost?

Don't know wha the older light clusters have - I expect they have the wedge (W5W) sidelights. About £10

WARNING: The LED bulbs will cause a bulb failure to come up on the dash display - I asked PIAA tech support and they admitted they are not ballasted to prevent this:

No these units are not and do show as bulb failure on certain vehicles.

What about high beam? Which bulb is a good match. I have H4 fitment for dipped lights, so do I ask for an H4 high beam bulb?

No - For the older non-projector headlamp you need H4 for dipped beam and H1 for high beam

Sorted! Dealers are good for something after all.

I've got the HID kit fitted now with the PIAA LED sidelight bulbs. The twin white ones (H263) match the HID colour perfectly and no problems with Autocheck so far. Twin Blue & Blue/White were both way too blue....

I did a sidelight bulb group test with PIAA Extreme White bulbs, all of the PIAA 2x, 4x & 6x LEDs (White, White/Blue & Blue/Blue) and Ring 4x LEDs (White & Blue).

IMHO the best match for HIDs were the Ring 4x White LEDs (Part No. LED5014W) & the PIAA 2x White LEDs. I've gone for the Ring ones as with 4x LEDs they're brighter and cheaper (£8.99 from Demon Tweeks). All the other LEDs are too blue. The Extreme White bulbs fill the lamp better than the LEDs but are not as bright.

I'm running with PIAA Xtreme Whites, which I think are a good match to the HIDs when on. However, they are very obviously blue in the lamp when off. Having gone to trouble of diadems for the indicators to get rid of the orange bulbs, this is not really what I want
LEDs would obviously get round that problem & at that price are actually cheaper than the PIAA bulbs.
Avant S2 have you had any autocheck problems since fitting the LEDs - getting a blown bulb warning etc.? It would be greta if you could post some pics.
