It's normally hard to find bolts like that from anywhere else. Normally my parts man would chuck one in the post.SSComment

If I was you I'd drop it in with your nearest reputable Bosch specialist. They have the right heavy duty electrical measurement equipment to test it properly and they will have access to all the spare parts you might need - like bearings, brushes, regulators or whatever.Originally posted by JefferIs there any info around how to service an anternator? I'd like to fix mine.

It's Alive! It's Alive!
Big Thanks to my best friend Audiman, for lending me his freshly refurbished alternator.
He also let me have all the associated fasters too.
Well, it's not like he needs it anyway.
He had a quick look at my dirty old alternator and it seems the brushes are very worn, even though they have already been replaced.
So it looks like the old banger will be going to the garage meet after all.
So it looks like the best option is to take my old alternator to a Bosch agent for a check over. My local place said they'll check it for free. (Then rip me off for any parts they think i'll need, probably.
) I don't think i want to give up my genuine unit for a GSF special.
I also want to thank Sal, for his back-up support.
