    VAG parts Central locking kit

    Hi again peeps

Reading the instructions for the above kit, there's a few lines in section (5) of the control unit installation instructions which has lost me somewhat.

"Lay the grey/brown cable (cables for comfort remote control) to the A pillar (driver's side). Connect it using the enclosed crimp connectors to the comfort locking cable on the outside door handle switch"

Where is the outside door handle switch on an RS2/80 Avant??

Thought this was supposed to be a 5 min job on an Avant?

    Cheers

i did it on my coupe, and once I had the rear quarter interior panel off it was pretty much plug and play.

Me too, once that panel was removed was a piece of cake.
Even easier for Shirish with having an Avant.

I too didn't understand the part about the wiring to the comfort locking cable and all the rest.
Not too sure but I think the two wires that come from the unit on their own are for attaching up to the rear lights to flash the indicators on lock and unlock. I routed those cables on my coupe along to the rear lights, but haven't as yet messed around trying to do it. So again not 100% sure.
It all works fine without them anyway.

Marty will be able to answer this I would have though.

On mine i didnt need to do that, I plugged it into the loom, it beeps and flashes when you lock it.

Or rather it beeps if the doors are locked properly and if one isnt closed it just flashes the lights

          Cheers chaps

have fired an email off to Martyn for help. Not bothered about blinking indicators, but the brown/grey cable seems more important

          Will let you know,....

          Cheers

Did you not have factory remote locking on your Rs2?

This 'comfort' feature - isn't that the trick when you hold the key in the lock/unlock position long enough to get the windows and sunroof closed/open ?

AFAIK - that wasn't an option on the S2 or RS2. It only came in with the A4 I think...

Easy to find out if your car has this feature before looking for the comfort wiring on the drivers door. This would complicate an otherwise trivially easy wiring job on the S2 Avant.

So that's what it's called. The A3 has that too.
I thought it had a mind of it's own when the windows went down with no one in it.
