Change the instrument cluster bulbs to 2w green capped osram jobbies, makes a world of difference.

Won't this cause a problem of the peeling of the speedo backing with warmer bulbs....?
I have heard of this being caused by incorrect bulbs.

I've also been told that higher wattage bulbs increase the lovely peeled effect of S2 dials. I found that a complete new set of standard jobbies made a great difference, as most of the existing bulbs were black.91 Modded 3B

You are right, I had such a mistake with my S2 instrumente cluster, the bordcomputer and gauges was melted, you dont notice that because you dont see this, I noticed it only because I had a problem with my speedo and with my rpm, I toke the instrumente cluster out of the dash to see what was the problem and then I saw the melted insrumente cluster, the white of the instrumente cluster was black. I changed it against my new RS2 instrumente cluster with stock 1,2W.Originally posted by Fat Audi 80
I was putting only 2W bulbs in my S2 instrumente cluster, because the 3 VDOs are more brightly as the bulbs of the instrumente cluster and that was my problem. I have now all of the RS2, mean the 3 VDOs and the instrumente cluster and there is not such a big difference of the difference brightness.Comment

I think this idea is flawed... The stock 1.2W bulbs are just fine. 2W bulbs can definitely cause thermal problems in the cluster.
