Dipped should stay on when full beam is turned on.
Didn't on my 1993 S2 which came originally without Elipsoids. I have now rewired it so that the dipped stay on all the time as I have ellipsoids and HID's....
Cheers,
Steve.

They should have before it was modified with ellipsoids though. Checking over Paulgo's car (H4/H1) and dipped stay on with highbeam.

Well they didn't! I think mine had the 3B type wiring if that makes sense - it was a crossover car.
(I am making this up as I go along BTW)

On a CQ (type 89 front) you have a H1 main beam and a H4 dip/main beam bulb. H4 being a dual element bulb. On dipped you only have the H4 bulb light up, and on full beams it switches to the other element of the H4 bulb AND turns the H1 bulb on. A 3B should be the same setup shouldnt it?

yep, thats what my cq20v and 2.3e coupes used to do. B4 non ellipsoids are the same (in operation) yes.

Did you fit the ellipsoids Steve ? I meant the old headlights that came as standard with your car should have lit both the dipped and the main. I know your ellipsoids didn't do that after they were fitted, Marks were the same after he fitted his.
