    battery problem RS2

Hi, i have a battery for approx. 2 years now and it was completely discharged 3 times till now! In the past days i have noticed that in the morning the engine revs relative well (not perfect) with the starter and starts! When i make a ca. 30 minutes drive and switch off the engine and then try to start it again after 2 minutes then there is not enough power to turn the engine in order to start! If i let it sit for couple of hours then it starts again but also the engine turning during the start procedure is not very good!

The Electics on the car are the same the last 3 years!

Can it be that the 2 years old battery failed or can it be something else! It seems to me that the battery is not charging well!

    Thanks for your help

Hi, the battery light doesn come on!

What is the regulator on the alternator??

Is the 63 Ah battery correct?

The alarm system is longer time there! I had no problem with it for two yers and then the car sat for 3 weeks and thats all! Then started all the problems!

Thing also is the battery had 2 years warranty (witch makes me think that mybe it has a really short life span)!

      Thanks

Need to check that the alternator is giving enough charge, also get the battery tested and is it the right one for the car?? If it's faulty then go for a decent quality new one, if the old one isn't under some kind of warranty.

it had 2 years warranty but it expired 2 months ago!

During operation (engine running) the Voltgauge of the car shows constant 14 Volts!

The battery is 63 Ah! I think this is the one! Someone told me that if the alternator 110 Amp is then should the Battery bigger too!

I am going to measure the battery Voltage during switched off engine and during the starting procedure!

Sounds like the battery is not the right one for the car////
i checked for my S2 recently and it takes something like an 85 or 95 amp/hr battery.....(cannot remember exact figure!)

                Hi Billman

It looks like I am talking rubbish

As Ive just looked at family album for the RS2 and these are the correct bateries it gives

                PN// 191 915 105Q Battery 64AH 380Amps

                as the MOST powerful one.
There are 4 listed....I presume for different specs of car like with aircon...etc

Personally I would always go for the higher ampage one

Weakest is same PN but ends in "A" not Q. = 36AH 175 amps

Second up is same PN but ends in "E" not Q. = 45AH 220 amps

Third most powerful is same PN but ends in "M" not Q = 63AH 300amps ///Im guessing this is yours///

                Hope this helps

Sorry to thread hyjack but does anybody know why some cars got 90a alternators and some got 120amp?

In three years with my CQ i've had a new battery and the alternator recond twice, there is some gremlin in mine too

So i bought an 74 Ah battery! It is a bit taller than the 63 Ah but it fits the Stock location!

Till now everything works fine! I hope it stays like this! In order to be sure now i bought a battery with 5 years of warranty!

The manufacturer is not very known. I bought it only because of the 5 years warranty! The name is Car Jack and can be found in most Praktiker ect stores in Germany.

I wanted a Bosch one but appart that it costs more it had only 2 years warranty.
