    Switch Bulb Replacement

    Hi Guys,

The heated rear screen and fog light switch ilumination doesnt work in my coupe (the warning lights do though). I guess the bulbs have gone.

How do i change the bulbs, and what bulbs do I need ?

    Cheers!

    Ed

You can buy standard 286 1.2w bulbs like these from a main dealer for 50p each.

              Part number is 941QBU286SP

You have to watch which part number stealers try and charge you for and also how much they try to charge you.

When I used to deal with retail customers the price of bulbs was affected by the customers attitude.

If you use the part number above they will probably want you to buy 10 as that is the unit of issue from VAG. Even then it's only £5 for 10 bulbs instead of £3 for 4. Ask if you can have trade discount and drop a company name (most places wont even care if it's motor trade or not) when your ordering and you should get them even cheaper.

Ok, i managed to get some bulbs from ebay. I have sorted the fog light switch, but the rear de-mister swicth has a little tiny bulb with long leads that seem to disapear out the side of the switch.

Any ideas on the the type of bulb these are, and also how easy they are to change?
