is there a common earth?

94 lhd rs2 avant, recently noticed i had no reverse lights , then no rear fogs either, swiftly followed by the rear wiper going on the blink, although the rear washer works?
this is made all the more interesting by the fact that engaging reverse illuminates the rear demist /rear fog dash illumination triangles on the push switches, this also happens when i press the rear wash wipe, so before i go chasing spagetti, is there a common earth? i have already sussed there is no power to the tailgate

The wires in your tailgate loom have started to perish.
They live in the left hand rubber trunk which goes from your tailgate into the car roof.
Get some spare wires and a soldering iron.
It's common on the avant when they get to this age
