    UrS4 door lock question

As posted previously I had trouble with the drivers door lock on my brothers UrS4. Wouldnt unlock the central locking but would lock it. Passenger door worked fine so no probs with the vacuum pump.
Got a 2nd hand lock from a standard Audi100 today, swapped actual lock barrel & fitted the original (so I could keep one key for all locks) No probs fitting and all working ok now. My Question is this: also attached to the lock switch apears to be another switch/sensor of which the wire (brown) goes to a box/relay gizmo located inside the door. The "new" lock didnt have this extra wire but everything seems to work fine so what on earth is it for?
There also is a micro switch attached to the actual handle and a wire also goes to this box!

ETKA shows an electrical connector coming from the door catch mechanism labelled "micro switch / right for vehicles with central locking system". Also shows on the lock barrel itself a switch/connector labelled "micro switch lock cylinder for door handle
for models with anti- theft alarm system".

Having troubles with my own UrS4 driver's door lock at the moment. The inside door handle became "unattached" from the catch mechanism ... the hook on the operating cable slipped off the lever at the business end. Took me 3 hours (first time, without a manual!) to disassemble the door, remove the glass & frame, and reattach it and it still isn't right! The inner handle doesn't spring back into the recess properly and occassionally the door locks itself permanently shut or refuses to close. Argh!

Hi Andrew, Thanx for that! That would explain what I am looking at! This car has an after market unit fitted so the factory one is redundant now.Its possible it was an option on the scrap car I got the lock from & it wasnt fitted.

I think the reason your inside handle doesnt return correctly is that you have inserted the hooked end of the cable into the handle upside down. I did this the first time I dismantled the door. Just take the handle off & reattach the hook the other way up.
Hope you can know what im talking about,
      cheers,
      Simon

Cheers for the hel Simon. Having had a quick look at the ETKA diagram I can see that's exactly what I've done. I also forgot to reconnect the speakers too! Time for some more door disassembly I think ...
