    Electrical overload?

Today i was coming home from the city centre and traffic was a nightmare, i am a believer in keeping the car as cool as possible, so i had the aircon on (keeps the main fan running ) and the interior fan on full. While i was sat in the traffic jam the voltage was around the 12.4 volts range which is typical on my car with this much load on the alternator. Then there was a split second dip (maybe the fan going to high speed) and the clock on the instrument cluster reset itself to 0:00, could this just be too much load on the system, or could i have a fault, i reset the time and had no repeat occurances since.

Update on this, tonight i was doing a brake clean up and inspection, and noticed it had reset while i was working on the car, i must have a loose connection, if anyone has had a similar fault please let me know what it was and how you rectified it.
    Cheers
