Could anyone tell if the Osram super bulbs really give 50% more light than the normal ones? The package promises that they should. Anyone having any experience with these?

I'm running Osram super's until my HIDs get fitted next week and I can confirm they do make quite a difference. Not sure if it's the full fifty percent but the light is a lot whiter and seems to go further.
I'll be moving them to my main beam when the HIDs go in.

I've been experimenting with various bulbs lately.
Doug tried the xtreme white H1 PIAA's and reported they are bright, bt at what a cost! £50+ for a pair.
I got hold of some Osram Supers, Osram silverstars and Phillips cool blue to test out.
The brightest are the silverstars which you can get in H1. The fogs on our cars use H3's and Osram do Supers for these which are quite a bit brighter than stock H3 halogens. For high beam I have tried Phillips cool blues.
On mine I currently have our H1 HID kit in low beam, cool blue's for high beam which are not as yellow as stock bulbs but still yellowish compared to the HID's. Supers in the fogs for a bighter fog light and PIAA xtreme white for the side lights which match the HID's perfectly. I had some cool blue number plate bulbs here, so when one of them blew a cew weeks ago, I put two cool blues in the no. plates lights, they are noticable different in colour!
The Osram supers will put out more light, I think Osram say 30% more light output from the same wattage and they are noticable brighter. I think it's the silverstars they rate as the brightest and they are noticable brighter, just don't expect miracles with our ellipsoid headlamps as they are badly held back by the projector design which is very old and not at all efficient! this I am working on with the help of the Spanish.
It is the silverstars I have got, not the supers. I had supers on my passat.
I need to get some of those PIAA side lights by next week so they match the HIDs. I've cool blue's in at the minute and they look yellow compared to the osram silverstars.

I used to have the Osram that are much better than stock option now I have VAGParts HID kit again a nice improvement but still not close to any currend Xenon light fitted to a modern car because of the reflectors on the ellipsoidal lamps.
Hopefully Martyn will have the solution for all our troubles soon.
what I managed to buy is a pair of H3 Super promising 30% more light, a pair of H1 Silverstar and a pair of H4 Silverstar and a pair of Cool blue for the parking lights or whatever the name is for the front corner light source. I"ll see what they improve. Thank you for your comments. I must emphasize that my wife"s CLK Merci has excellent xenon lights......although the car is parked approx 200 meters from our house because the road is steep and its winter with SNOWWW and the Merci kinda dont like slippery road conditions.

I have looked at the headlamp glasses and they seem to be different colours. Some of the early ones 89> are clear, some of the later ones seem to be yellow and some have a greenish colour. Recycled glass?
I like playing in the snow, it's even better with a Quattro.
We don't get much snow and when we do the roads get clogged with people who can't drive!
