    Cigarette lighter light

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but when the car lights are totally in the off position, the cigarette lighter lamp is on! Very hard to spot in the daytime and just noticed it this evening. When I turn on the lights stick to side lights, or full lights the lamp
    goes off!

Can anyone offer any suggestion on how to fix this as surely it shoulc work the other way around?

    Thanks,

    Lloyd

    Solved!

Was rather lucky a dimwit mechanic (that's me) managed to figure it out.

I had the car permaguarded recently, and whilst highly recommended overall, I also had the engine bay done too. That meant that I had an intermittant misfire for a couple of days afterwards whilst evrything dried out. I also noticed that the screen washer jets were performing really badly - I assumed some of their 'gunk' had blocked the jets, so cleaned them out with a pin. A little better but still not good.... Couldn't work it out what else it could be until this morning...

Whilst fiddling with the cigaretter lighter unit last night I blew the 15 Amp fuse, no problem - got another this morning and fitted it OK. It was then I noticed that the tube under the bonnet feeding the washer jet had semi losened from its socket. Turns out that everytime I had activated the washer jets most of the water had been sprayed onto and around the fuse box unit - arrghhh

I guess this was causing the unusual lighting problem above. Anyway, jets back to normal as is the lighter lamp too.
