Well.. No matter what some of you say, my armrests ha absolutely NO allen keys.

On the outer piece there are two small holes, these lead directly to a couple of clips you can push in with a small screwdriver. Then you just pull the piece off.
There are NO other holes and NO access to ANY bolts or allen keys on this outer piece.
The inner piece is held on with the three screws shown in my second picture.

Removal of the armrest takes about 30 seconds..

I think the problem here is that people are overlooking the differences between right hand drive and left hand drive cars in different markets.

There are two sorts of handles fitted to audi 80 models (including S2 and RS2). One is the sort UK owners are familiar with which has the ridiculous hidden allen keys and the other is the much more simple two piece handle shown at the start of this thread.

Aha! That explains it perfectly Ben.. The LHD guys clearly got the better deal on this one.

No sign whatsoever of allen keys in mine, I had a good look. Seems like LHD cars are different. Could be a good thing for the search facility and those searching in the future.
          So here's some keywords

LHD, electric window switches, mirror switches, remove arm rest!

That AND we get to drive on the correct side of the road!

I wonder if the german engineers laughed when they shipped cars with ****** armrests to UK knowing they had installed much better ones in theire own cars.

              I bet they did indeed!!

The UK version is certainly much in need of improvement....

I can confirm for my rs2. You can push two things out of the way in the small holes and then pull it hard. Watch out, it hit my face!
