Is there a way of jump starting or charging the battery on an ABY without having to lift the back seat up?

Not that I'm aware of. I must have had my back seat off 3 or 4 times this year through not driving my car enough and it going flat....
I am seriously thinking of buying a battery conditioner for the winter...

I just ordered one of those from Maplin - cheap as anything - tenner I think it was - hopefully it does the job... I generally use the car most weekends nowadays but with the colder weather coming, the poor battery is bound to feel a bit hard done by.

I am going to go for this one I think!
You can buy small loom to connect to the battery with a socket that the conditioner plugs into. I am going to install this into the bulkhead below the rear bench meaning I don't have to take the seat off to connect it...The Perfectionist

Similar type of thing that bikers use to keep their bike batteries in tip top shape. I replaced two or three batteries on my last bike until I bought one of these systems, invaluable for people who only occasionally use thier cars
@ Mak, 30 secs to remove the two screws holding the seat down and that's it

Not if you have a child seat strapped in and foam pads carefully positioned under it to protect the leatherOriginally posted by Jas11n30 secs to remove the two screws holding the seat down and that's it
I like the idea of a remote connector onto the battery for the conditioner.....question is, could you jump the car through the same connector? If so I would plumb on in and hide the connector in the boot

I wouldn't like to try and jump a car through wire no bigger than 16awg
melted wire, smoke and maybe a little bit of a firework display ?

That is a good idea, Simon, the connector is weather proof, so I could but it in/under the boot. I will look for a suitable location once I have the gear in my hands. I have put it on my xmas list...Originally posted by HPmuirtNot if you have a child seat strapped in and foam pads carefully positioned under it to protect the leather

P.S. I agree with Jase, it would not be a good idea to jump from there, but you should never need to once you have a battery conditioner in your garage.

Jump plug required then - as used on lots of race and rally cars, especially the ones with total loss electrical systems!

Lol old man, I've got the 3B coupe ...with the battery mounted in the equally inconvenient position, under the strut brace!
