Have you tried the mod that I did on my car? It originally *had* the dipped beam switching OFF when I used main beam. This knackered one of my HID ballasts when I initially installed them. You need to read this and do the mod mentioned in the link to change any "switched" dipped beam to "permenant" dipped beam....

I know its not necessary when upgrading to HID's, but would it be worth relaying the lights, this way you know it has to be a problem with the switch system, you also know your power comes from the correct source and you have good earth present...
other than that I don't know... I had a few problems installing A6 HID units (projector units, bulbs and ballasts) into mine, and this was cured by 'simplifying' the wiring...

It's been running since March see post #29 of this thread for a link.
[note] kit is "only" for ellipsoids at the minute until the new year. If you have the earlier lamps with H4/H1's then sorry but you'll have to wait.

Strange, check the wiring on the HID, the wiring on them has been done differently to the VAG HID's though so i can't really comment on them.
