Today i went to work as normal and the fuel gauge was reading just uner 1/4 of a tank. The computer was saying i had 45miles left in the tank. Parked up and done my days work, got back in the car and the fuel gauge was rock bottom and the computer was saying empty and i had the warning light flashing. I then put more petrol in but no change. I cant smell any petrol so its not coming out. Is the fuel gauge linked to the computer? Any ideas n what it can be?

Any ideas peeps? I have taken a longer look into things. The fuel gauge will measure the fuel with the ignition switched off, but when i tuen the ignition on it goes to rock bottom and the fuel warning come on the computer
It is intermittant at the moment. Any ideas, its a strange one.
