    Hi,

have you tried lubricating the guide rails with silicone spray.

should make the mechanism work a lot easier and doesnt take too much to apply.

just remove/ease away the door panel and direct the spray onto the two vertical rails that the glass runs on.

Chris it's under the control relay is under the steering column, behind the little shelf. It's a double sized relay and is the largest one under there.

As for the thermal/current/cutout/limiter, this is internal to each motor. It's a little black rectangular device. These cannot be ordered from Audi you'll need to find another source. It is quite possible that this has gone open circuit due to mechanical resistance against the motor such as internal corrosion which can easily be cleaned up.

The entire window regulator assembly must be removed before you can separate the motor from the cable drive, once you have done this you can easily disassemble the motor and check the device.

My advice would be to try a known good relay before going done this route as it is very time consuming to say the least. Is the motor getting power when the switch is pressed? Chances are if it is then it's the thermal/current limiter.

      Cheers,
      Rob.
