    RS2 - total closure

    Hi all,
I'm looking at fitting a new alarm system and wonder if there's a built-in total closure function for the windows & sunroof. When I hold the key in the drivers door the windows & sunroof do not close presently. Is it possible that the capability is there but not enabled, somehow?
Also if there IS total closure, is it possible to achieve the opposite: I'd like to be able to hold a button on the new alarm remote control to open all windows & sunroof as I approach the car. Does this require additional wizardry?
    TIA

Should have total closure/opening when holding the key at locked /unlocked in the door. Iirc my S2, s had it and I know my 89 Corrado G60 had it. I will check my 94 80 competition tomorrow if i remember.

If you hold key in locked position and windows don't close you most likely don't have the function unfortunately, OR your vacuum pump/window relay isn't working properly (someone correct me if I'm wrong). When you fit any type of remote locking you, you won't have to hold it down for windows to close, you press lock button and all the windows will close. We, ad far as in aware, don't have function to have windows open when unlock is pressed/held.

          Thanks both that's v helpful.
Occasionally my windows/sunroof do stop working. Then randomly everything returns back to normal so there may be an issue with one of the window/sunroof relays (#363?). You don't know hunker7 by any chance how to identify if there's a problem with the vacuum pump?

Whenever I've had issues with the pump or the relay it has been a dry joint somewhere on the board. Don't think I've ever had either pump or relay just fail.

I have a total closure alarm original Audi circa 1992. If I had another one I would go for a straight forward alarm/immo with door, bonnet, tailgate contacts, infra red sensors and central locking. I find the total closure a bit of a pain at times, arm/disarm every time you stop for fuel with someone in the car. Even if there is no one in the car you tend to forget that it auto reset, open the door, alarm goes off. If you just stop and turn the ignition off and want to stay in the car, same. As Rikki pointed out the sunroof can be a problem. If the battery is slightly low on charge the sunroof will open slightly but not close when armed, disarm, arm, roof opens a bit more, turn on ignition and close roof with switch then when you turn off the ignition even if you don't arm from the remote it will auto arm and the bloody roof will start to open again. HTH.

I'll have to check whether my alarm auto-sets itself when the key is left in the ignition (as you say when filling up with fuel leaving a passenger in the car). That sounds quite annoying.
But the alarm installed did say that the car doesn't have a total closure feature, but it can be added for approx £300 or so. I decided against doing it!
