Refurb or Replace BOSCH RS2 Alternator ?

Audi RS2 Alternator
Can a normal BOSCH ‘Service Centre’ give me an exchange unit for a reasonable price or is it cheaper to just buy a new one from EuroCarParts?

I took it to Heaton Auto Electrics in Newcastle but the chap said it wasn’t the regulator that wasn’t the issue, it was something else why it wasn’t charging?

Yes. I got an exchange from my local Bosch center and it was like a new one for about £200.

LOL! here is from around 450€ or more.
Luckily, changed the regulator and goes better (not perfect but like perfect)

i had a brand new one fitted in exchange of the old one and when I had started the car didn't charge and after couple of days fire come out of it lol. Luckily I had and old urs6 alternator and it works perfectly. I might have a second attempt later to refurb or to exchange for a new one....

My local electrician (who does plenty of alternator & starter repairs for us.) managed to do a full refurb on mine and working perfectly now.

I have recently refurbished the alternator on my car. It is excactly the same as yours. Pretty much all the parts all available and it is not too hard to do yourself. You can have a look at my project thread of you want to see more.

Got mine done at a local alternator refurb shop needed new windings as they had melted together cost £180 but good as new now, don't think you can source new originals anymore

Yeah have had mine reconditioned from an alternator specialist a couple of times and pretty cheap to be honest...

The Local BOSCH Centre said they can’t help me, there are no recon units available in circulation to do an exchange for me.

I think I will have a go and rebuild it.
