    light weight alternator ?

has any one fitted a light weight alternator, ? either a new one or one from another type of car ..trying to save weight 7.1 kg/standard , to heavey for my liking.. I am also going to move coil packs to bulk head and fit 7 acam cover this is going to save 4kg off the weight of the engine and transfer about 2kg to the bulk head and also the coils wont be getting cooked any more.. the rally car when last weighed was 1179kg and i wont be happy until it is 1150kg [or less] jobs done since car last weighed are new bottom end [lightned knife edge crank, steel arrow- rods, je forge piston ,built by aelred est 3kg saved, fibre glass bonnet,6kg saved ,coil/rocker cover conversion total [est] 2kg I know only 11kg ,so car should now weigh 1168kg BUT we are also going to fit a dsy 6 speedbox which is a bit heaver than the 016 5 speed [hav not weighed them yet ]

you may want to also fit an electric PAS pump so that it can re located and not be driven off the engine directly too

Oh BTW. On my bathroom scales a 5 speed ARV weighs ~58kg, and a DSY weighs ~78kg! I haven't got an 016 here to try, sorry about that.

Just very small alternator I got from my local alternator shop.
I am not sure if this alternator will work properly because I have not started my car yet and probably will never be started as the car is now a write-off.
I will try to get some photos done of the alternator tomorrow.
                      Cheers
