    Non working fuel gauge

    Here's one for the masses.

Started my car for the first time in about a week or so today and got a fuel light come on saying no fuel!

The gauge hadn't moved and was stuck on rock bottom.

Now this was strange as there was half a tank of fuel in it.

Went down the local Shell and filled the car before popping down to MRC to have a peak look at MRC600 :mischeif: and a routine fix, started the engine and all was fine again!

    Should I be concerned?

Are you sure some caravan dwellers haven't been at your motor? Once had someone put a screwdriver through the tank on a golf and took the lot only noticed when the fuel kept falling out onto the road!

        Thought of that but

        a) It wouldn't have started if there was no fuel in it

        b) no spills on the drive

        c) I drove to Banbury and back and only used the normal amount of fuel

I had the exact same thing happen to me a few months ago and it hasn't happened since.

I am putting it down to "just one of those things"

This will make you laugh. Asked the missus this morning if she was gonna use her Audi convertible as it looked like a nice day was on the cards (not rainning cats and dogs down here) She said it needed petrol and could i go and fill it up because she didnt like the noise that it made when you unscrew the filler cap it makes her jump (the sshhh noise) To top it off the gauge showed just above the first low mark and it blinkin run out of juice on the way to fill it up. Funny not one person offered to help push it, a few smirked though good bit of early morning exercise though got back and shed gone in one of our other cars anyway, double

I can see the problem here Jamo - its all those sticky Shell Additives have gummed up your fuel sender
