    shielded wire question

Hello all.. were building a couple b2 /AAN ecu harnesses here. On the shielded wires, do i need to ground the shielding in these wires? My spare aan harness doesn't have anything special here. Just the sheathing and shielded trimmed back and the wires underneath left longer to terminate at whatever pin. What would you experienced guys do here?

We could have a long debate on the technical merit of grounding the shielding or not. I would suggest that to get the best performance out of the shielding it needs to be grounded just ONCE somewhere. Not grounded lots of times so it inadvertently becomes a ground path for high currents under fault conditions.

HOWEVER, if originally the shielding went to a connector pin or component then that connection needs to be made as the shielding will be deliberately used to carry ground somewhere.

I need to inspect another AAN harness, but I dont think these are grounded on my spare OEM harness. may have to figure out a clean way to add these in. Can they get to a bundle then off to a body ground? Is that "ok"? of is there a prefered way?
