HELP ! RS2 not cranking, sometimes!!

Help, This is driving me nuts. For a while I have noticed a slight delay between turning the ignition key to start and the starter actually responding, just a half second perhaps but a bit irritating. I thought it was just the age of the starter so I had it refurbished, but still no difference. The problem is getting worse as now it will refuse to crank at all. Happens mostly when hot, has let me down a few times. I have just changed the ignition switch but no change. I a writing this in a car park waiting for it to decide to crank, as it is a case of sometimes it will, sometimes it won’t. I wonder if there is a bad connection somewhere that is made worse when hot. When I turn the ignition key I get nothing, not even a click from the solenoid. Has anybody had this issue or know where to look as There is nothing else to replace ??

Its probably the wires between the starter and where they go into the chassis leg and the earth there.

When hot normally is the hall sensor or wiring to it. Sometimes people poor cool water over it and it’ll then fire up

If you mean the starter motor isnt always engaging then check the engine earth strap or live connection to starter motor
