Alternator compatibility question AAN vs ABY ADU

Have a question about fitment for alternators. Will the AAN 120A alternator work on a RS2 and ABY S2 ? I know the pulley is 6PK and ADU/ABY is 4PK but does it mount with proper belt alignment? Only have a 7A coupe alternator to compare to and don’t have car apart to check. Just want to have the right alternator ready to go. ABY one isn’t easy to come by stateside that I’m aware of.

Searched forums and internet all night with no luck. Switching from 3 Vbelt setup to 2 + 4PK with ABY damper pulley so I’m not 100% sure.

I know the part number is different from ABY/ADU just wondered how different it actually was.

Sorry, I can't help specifically, but I fitted a 140a version from the D2 A8 when I upgraded from v belts to 6pk

Good to know thanks. Do you happen to know if the ABY pulley is the same dimensions as the AAN? Just 4 rib vs 6? Both 70mm diameter?

The diameter was smaller so had to fit a slightly shorter belt to get the tension ok but worked fine was on the car for years and was 6 rib with a four rib belt

Right on thanks. Was more worried about the size and alignment of belt not so much extra ribs. Great, sounds like I’m sorted then. Cheers.
