S2 ABY not arming factory alarm from driver door lock

This has been working fine until recently but I noticed today that my ABY S2 Coupe does not arm the factory alarm when locking from the driver door (no beep and no flashing red light). It does arm and beep when locked from the passenger door. Central locking works fine, interior light works fine, headlamp on warning and radio on warning work fine. I would think this would narrow it down quite a lot but I am scratching my head.

There is a switch mounted on the key barrel which fails. I believe you can still get them from Audi but they are not cheap.
I had to change mine but managed to get a NOS one for a cheaper price.
Passenger and drives are the same so you coud swap them over.
