    OE Footwell Lighting

    Hello Forum,

Does anyone know if footwell lighting was an OE option for any 80/90/S2/RS2/Coupe/Cab B3/B4 cars? Perhaps on a top of the range 90? I know at some point bonnet lights were a thing but not fitted on .most, despite the cutouts remaining in place.

All of these cars share the same basic dash config with a couple of variants of the drivers knee/storage panel. On my 1999 Cab, there is a cutout perfectly sized to hold light unit 331947113, same as the boot light, a pretty universal VAG festoon light unit.

There is NO corresponding cutout on the glovebox / passenger side on either the glovebox unit or the trim behind it (which would be the right location).

    ......

If there was an OE footwell lighting option, was it drivers side only?

Does anyone know if there an unused power feed from the central locking pump that served to power such a light?

Would this simply have been fed by the same fading "door" lighting live that goes to the courtesy light, minus the switch?

Has anyone retrofitted using exact OE parts and original configuration? If such a setup was ever OE? Based on the cutouts I'm suspecting it was? (I know many have used LED's etc)

    Kind Regards,

    Jay.

Anyone else seen an 331947113 festoon light holder in this location?

Is this location supposed to be for an OBD port on American models?

Is it pure co-incidence it’s the exact size of an 331947113 festoon light holder?

Anyone seen ANY 80/90 era cars with factory OE footwell lights not retrofitted?

        Kind Regards,

        Jay
