  • Ignition coil & power stage for CQ 7A

    Hi all,

I've been looking to replace the ignition coil on my 7A CQ and was hoping someone could help me with a sanity check.

So the OEM part number is 8A0905105. This is the Hitachi unit for 7A, 3B, NM and NG. If you search for this part on Spareto.com, for example, it cross-references to a newer-style ignition coil with power stage under Bosch 0 986 221 000. This has a remark on the Spareto website that says it's been replaced by Bosch 0 221 601 006. This latest version doesn't directly cross-reference back to the original part number, but it's referenced in association with the first Bosch part number.

So, am I right in thinking I can switch to this ignition coil and power stage without any issues, and that the latest Bosch part number will actually work without any spec differences?

    Thanks

The Bosch number is now 0 221 601 006 as you have found and is still available as are many other brands such as Hella, Delphi, Marelli, HÜCO (Hitachi aftermarket), Febi and others. My preference was BERU but they have dropped their ZSE005. You can still get a genuine Hitachi from Tradition for €210

      Thank for the reply.

Yes the Bosch 0 221 601 006 is available for a reasonable price, around £60. I don’t mind using this, but my main concern was it didn’t directly cross reference to the original part number. I actually prefer the look of the later style so if they’re all functionally the same I’d rather use that instead of finding an original, especially if they’re €210 from Tradition!

I can supply a Hella, Marelli or Delphi within a week or so for £65 if you struggle to find one.
