Whoa.
Whilst travelling up to Birmingham and back yesterday on the M40, I noticed very strange behaviour from my water temperature guage.
I had remarked here a few months back that I thought it was giving a less high than normal reading whilst stuck in London traffic, but I had put that down to me running the AirCon 100% of the time these days after having the system re-charged in order to keep it lubricated...
Anyway.
What happened was that the water temp guage would, periodically, drop completely to 0 for a few minutes, then work its way back to 70-ish.
No other indicators showed anything sinister - the MFD doesn't give any level or temp warnings, the Oil Temp is a firm 90C, Oil pressure is good at 4+BAR, and my fuel economy was fine on that trip (averaged 27MPG driving like a girl). The car didn't produce any strange sounds, or vent any fluid or steam. Coolant level is normal.
Could this be the thermostat giving up the ghost, or just the guage/temp sensor?
Anybody else had this?
