Golf MK4 indicator relay help please!

Yeah i know its not an S2 but it sits next to one in my garage and it has developed a really strange prob. It seems the indicator relay is clicking all the time, sometimes fast sometimes slow, mostly at an irregular rate. The indicators work fine and so do the hazard. No lights show when its clicking, it just licks away all the time

Can anyone shed any light on this? I think it is a common VAG fault on this platform cos i seem to remember being in a Skoda Octavia taxi with the same fault late last year!

I am thinkin, hazard switch/indicator switch. Don't think it can be the light clusters shortin cos they only get live when something is on and this is all the time

Any super electricians on here that have seen this before? Would post on the MK4 forum but don't want to buy Lexus rear lights

Hi Crawford, I work for a SEAT main dealer and we tend to find (more often than not)the rapid/erratic clicking of indicators when operated is a faulty hazard switch. This can sometimes be tested by tapping the hazard switch as it is misbehaving but not enough to move the button in. I can only assume that the golf would be the same setup but I can't say for sure.

Cheers mate, have seen a few posts on other forums about this but no definate answers. Tracked it to the hazard switch or the indicator stalk. Just gonna roll the dice and try changing one of em!
