New style outside temp display

Can I buy and use the new style outside temp display that is in the instrument cluster in my 91 car with automatic aircon? I have the ugly old style aircon unit that is capable of showing the outside temp also.
There is a 5 pin (with 4 wires) black connector behind the instrumets not connected to anything. If this connector is not for the outside temp display what is it for?

ps. I found out why the old aircon unit is so ugly. It has "made in USA" sticker on in

A bit OT but... Jumped into a friend's cadillac a few years ago. guess if I was supprised when i saw that he had the same ugly aircon as i have in my S2 -91...

The oil fillercap on my 7A engine has GM moulded into it.

A girlfriend's Metro Turbo had Ford centre caps on the wheels.

Does GM mean German motors I wonder?
