Rear wiper problems on Avant

Going through all the jobs on my S2 to fix .have done most of thenk god!!....but alittle stumped with rear wiper not working properly....have read this can be a common problem with them just giving up......mine sometimes works but you have to hold the lever down for a while for it to work and thats occasionally and today pushed it down once and the wiper never stopped couldnt switch it off had to unplug from the motor.........take it is a problem with the stalks or is there something else i should be looking at

Ours is similar, but less so, takes some prodding on cold mornings to play ball....

Going to strip down the stalk at some stage as I suspect it's a similar problem to that of electric window switches on Type 85's...

It just needs cleaning and re-adjusting... here's hoping.

Stalks.
Crap gets on the small slider tracks within the switch. Remove and very carefully dismantle the switch. Be wary of stupidly small springs boinging all over if you aren't careful.
Sometimes a spray of switch cleaner (not WD40) and good wiggle on and off of the switch will sort it.
