UrS4 lock pump?

not a problem with my S2 (for a change!) but my brothers UrS4. It has an intermittant central locking problem. Usually it works fine but after a run the doors wont lock automatically. I can hear the relay under the back seat clicking but the pump isnt trying to run. If I leave it for a while everything works ok! Ive checked the connectors to the pump & there isnt any obvious corosion. Any ideas? Worth dismantling the pump? Also are these pumps common to a few Audis or model specific?

the pumps are common through out the range for that year
have you also checked for a leak on the pipes

ive not checked for leaks as such but I cant hear any when it IS running & when it doesnt run the pump motor ist going so Im sure it not s leak but something either jamming the pump motor or a bad electrical connection inside the unit.
Im going to open it up & if I cant see anything go on a scrapyard expedition!
