door lock pump- is it programed?

Cant see anything wrong with the pump on my brothers UrS4 (Im guessing its a PCB component fault as the motor/pump part is fine) so Im going to do a scrapyard trip tomorrow. I believe these pumps are all the same on similar aged Audis. I DID read on another forum that they are are programed tho as they are part of the original factory alarm/imobiliser. Anyone know if this is true?
I was going to try the one from my own S2 just to check but if there is a chance of some weird electronics fault involving the imobiliser Id rather not risk it!
Has anyone else just fitted a 2nd hand pump as a straight swap?

    Thanx,
    Simon

      seems not!
this one is a '94 & has factory imobiliser/alarm (the "toot toot" horn in the boot thingy!) [ As does my own '93 S2] but also has a Sigma aftermarket remote system incorporated into it.
The Sigma system works ok (except when the CL is playing up of course when all it does is set the alarm!)

The Immo on the S2 and UrS4 is nothing to do with the CL pump. The pump should work as soon as you plug it in. The only coding on them is when you have IR locking.

Never ever assume that. You should always replace like with like unless the part in question superseeds to a later number

well, interestingly enough, I attempted to start the car with the cl pump disconnected & the starter wouldnt turn!
maybe the immo isnt part of it but sure as hell SOME circuit IS connected thru it!
