    blown bulbs on 2ndary dial

Just wondering - what type of bulbs light up the 3x guages down in the centre console? The alternator charge guage light has gone, wanted to know what type of bulb to get before I start ripping the console out ?

Incidentally - has anyone tried putting a boost guage in there - remove the volt meter and just replace it with said boost guage? It's not like the alternator voltage is particularly interesting? How do you wire up a boost guage? What do you need (should this be on another thread?!)

12 volt 1.2 watt bulb. Can get from any motorfactors or go to a scrappy with an empty pocket
Just replaced all three of mine yesterday, oil pressure one was out, but thought I'd do all three as sod laws says the others would go 30 mins later.
PITA getting the daft hardbrake crip cover off though

Thanks, I'll definitely replace all three at once because of Sod's Law...

You don't need to take the handbrake cover off to get the console off - I managed that when I did the short shift mod last month. It's a tight fit, but it will slide over the handbrake with the cover still on.

Ended up breaking the daft plastic clip
At least it's a nice tight fit

Mine had three 1,1 W bulbs (Orange coloured base). I think you can change the bulbs from above, by removing the aircon, but I haven't done that.

Are they the same bulbs as in the console buttons for fog lights/rear heater/ABS etc?

I think I'll go in through removing the centre console, I at least have experience of that so shouldn't break too many things!

Just spotted this Dan, is white aswell, so it'll match the other ones. Not sure wot size it is, you'll have to ask him. Maybe worth measuring up the gauge size while you've got it to bits. Link below

I think I was a bit too fast with my reply. Just checked the family album and realized that the lhd- and rhd-versions have completely different setups. Mine is a lhd, so your's is probably different.

That guage looks good. I have absoloutely no idea how one would wire one of those up though! Might bid anways as it looks cheap (at the moment). Perhaps at a future S2 meet some knowlegdable chap could help me!

Just to check - the bulbs, are they the little blighters with a tiny rectangular shaped glass bit at the bottom that inserts in to the fitting?
