    Central Locking Electrics

    Hi all

After my shenanigans with not being able to start my car at the billing meet at home time i seem to have tracked the problem down to here.

Can anybody tell me what the cut wire does in the photos below. This is what has happened.

When i was removing my rear bumper at billing my mate noticed the cut wire and thought that shouldnt be like that so twisted it together for a later repair.

Now when i came to go the next day my car wouldnt start, at all, nothing, not even turn, as though an immobiliser was on. We tried jumping it to no avail, then we remembered the wire, disconnected it and the car fired up no problem.

Now it drove like this for a couple of days and stopped on me again. So i connected the wires and it started again. Out of curiosity i disconnected the wires and it still fired up fine. So all was well.....until i got in the car this morning and the central locking was no longer working???? Only the drivers door would open...???

So, anyone know what it is and why its behaving like it is....its almost as thou its switching a relay or something???

    Pics vvvvvvv

    Cheers all...

Is that photo taken behind the drivers side rear trim - at the central locking pump/controller itself ?

I'll dig out the schematics - very odd one this...

Yes, that looks like the central locking pump/controller alright.

What year is yours - and actually - is it an Avant - how else would you see the CL pump when removing the rear bumper ?

IIRC that is one of the power feeds or earths to the pump. I will hvae to look at the wiring diagrams to be sure though.

My betting is the standard alarm system has been disconnected when an aftermarket was fitted.

The standard alarm and immobiliser is on the same fuse as the central locking for the fuse box.

When you reconnect that wire the standard immobiliser is then enabled.

That would make sense - I can't see reference to any pink coloured 6-pin connector related to the central locking system on COupe or Avant... NOr use of a black/yellow wire.

Really need to know where the photos relate to and on what vehicle... Oh and if anyone asks - I'm on 'gardening leave' - heheheheheh

Paul, I too had a look at the schematics I have and couldn't find the connector or the sw/ge wire either. Definitely more info needed as you say.

Friggin Audi schematics - found this now - That 6pin pink connector is actually labelled as block B on V94 - the central locking pump... The pin numbers align exactly and I can see all those wire colours connected to the 'B' block.

Pin B4 is black/yellow and connects to the horn unit (H8) used by the factory alarm. For anyone else looking its on sheet 37/1 of the 1994 Audi 80 schematics - track 11.

Dunno how an aftermarket immo should interfere with that sitting here but its possible that something silly is going on... You'd need to trace the wires from aftermarket alarm to see if/how they interact with H8.

To be more correct - only V94 should connect to the H8 horn - maybe it is shorted or something stupid - unless someone has unwittingly used this wire for somthing else on the aftermarket alarm.

Paul, I've got the 1993 Audi 80/90 shematics and I can't find this?

Oh - the plot thickens.... Typical Audi confusion on schematics ... The info I gave you was from 1994 Audi 80 binder that is actually 'From July 1993 - Edition 11.93'

But in the 1994 binder for Coupe & Cabrio there is 'From October 1993 - Edition 12.93' - Sheet 15/1 which shows this wire on track 13 - same B4 pin. It shows it connected to H8 *and* J341 - one of the factory immo relays - tada !

However - the way its drawn I would expect to see two black/yellow wires at this B4 terminal.

I just found this diagram for the the A80 MY94, I don't have the Coupe/Cabrio one you speak of which includes the wire to the factory immo..

Its for a 1994 S2 Avant. Photo is taken form the right hand side in the boot looking at thr central locking pump. have to take the trim off to gett to the bumper bolts.

When i first got the car it had two aftermarket alarms fitted, neither worked so i ripped them both out, sholud have seen how much wire came out. neither were spliced in in the split wire though, they were all in the loom at the front of the car, behind dash etc.
