Looking over car the other day and noticed that the air bag(not the wife) should be replaced in 2009,on 94 S2.
Is this nescesscary, not planning on crashing car,but would like it to deploy none the less.
Do these have a limited life-span? Or should it be ok to ignore for a while.

At work we are told the airbags are good for ten years ( this is a modern airbag so with the s2 been older its only going to be rough idea as back then it might have been 5 years)..
On tne modern VAG group cars they are supposed to have a 10 yr lifespan,
An interesting thing that i had with a customers skoda octavia taxi was the airbag warning light had come on at 350,000 miles. It was a 2000 model so should be ok to 2010. I could reset the light but within a mile it was back on- The only way it would stay off would be to replace the airbag!! Fun and games at mot time.
I suppose they reckon that after that mileage it should be replaced.
