    Noisy rear wiper

I've done a search for rear wipers on here but not found what I was looking for.

I've got an S2 Avant and the rear wiper motor makes an awful whirring noise, it still works, but I dont know for how much longer.

A new one is £100+P&P but I've found one on eBay, but its for a coupe. Will this fit?

If not, can the motor be repaired in anyway?

    Thanks,

Erm....I'm just trying to think on how to gauge how noisy it is. The only way to describe it, is like a bear growling, its enough to make passengers jump when you put it on while you're doing 70mph.

      Does that help any?!

Hmmm mine's noisy but not too bad, just sounds normal like a motor should. Other noise sometime is the blade not having alot of water on it so squeaking across the rear window. Does the noise go away if you use the washer for the rear window at the same time?

I never thought of that, were bears fitted as standard on the Avant then?

That was my mum's description, I couldn't think of anything else

Acidburn - Its just as noisy if the washer jet is on or if the back screen is soaking.

Disconnect the arm from the motor then turn it on- if it still makes the noise the motor is fooked(technical term)
You could try lubeing it up as it may have seized if it isn't used that much

If unfortunately it has gone, should be able to get a second hand unit cheaply off ebay and the likes. good luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I thought it was more important to replace my crap tyres today rather than look at my rear wiper, so it will have to wait until next week when I'm off work again.
