urgent help please re alternator

    urgent help please re alternator

    can anyone tell me how to slacken the alternator belt as i need to fit a new alternator
    as mine is not charging

    loosen the nut which attaches the the top bracket allowing adjustment then also loosen off the lower bolt (as looking from the front of the car and the pump should then be free to move.

      you need to take the bumper off to get access to the front of the alternator.

      iirc there is about 3 bolts that need lossening. Then you should be able to move the unit to the left wich will slacken the belt.

        sorry guys forgot to add its on a urs4
        there are only two bolts
        and i think there's a tensioner but i don't know
        how to slacken it off

            You can change the alt in an S2 by just removing the plastic cover over the rad and reaching down with a 17mm spanner. BTDT a couple of times now

                right then done it not a simple swap had to change the pulley wheel as
                i had purchsed an rs2 alternator from laser s2 avant
                all done now anyway
