Car Alarms - Any Recommended?

Hope this is the right section of the forum for this - seemed like the closest!

Well, I've been phoning around insurers today regarding my imminent S2 purchase. All of them require a Thatcham Cat 1 or 2 alarm to be fitted to insure an S2.

I have a short grace period to get one fitted (about 2 weeks), so just wondering if anyone had had any good/bad experiences with alarms?

I'm going to go for a Thatcham 1 since I'm having to fit one at all. Is there one that would integrate with the Central Locking on a 1992 model so that the key fob operates the door locks too? Or would one integrate with the VAG-Parts kit that allows remote door lock operation?

Toad Ai606 every time.
I wouldnt get a Clifford with loads of gimics that can go wrong....
Search on pretty much any car forum and you will find threads about problems with Cliffords, but you will struggle to find any for Toads!
Ive had them on my last 3 cars, stretching over a period of 5-6 years and havent had a single problem or false alarm.
Any good installer should be able to make them control the central locking

Brilliant, thanks! Funnily enough my fitter is recommending just that - also his reputation is very good (ex. Lucas) so I'm sure he'll be able to make it operate the doors too...

managed to insure mine for the last 7 years with no alarm but two immobilisers (toad)

done through a broker (a-plan) on a limited miles policy. Have never needed an alarm with elephant, budget, admiral or this company????
