    Buzz over the stereo...

    hi guys.

Right after sorting the lights to the dash out (via the knob on the dash which I didn't dare touch. Cheers Acidburn) I still have a huge buzz over the stereo when teh lights are turned on. It is not there when they are off mind. It does change pitch with the speed of the car too....

Any thoughts. I was looking at getting a supressor for the alternator???

aye, i'd check the ground mate but if the pitch is changing with acceleration i'd put a suppressor on the alternator. has it being doing this since your rebuilt the car?

Sounds like the earth points, do you have your speakers going thru the amp you had fitted as if its just the amp powering your speakers then clean up the earth for that and it should sort it.

Glad you got the other problem sorted

Another idea: there's a wire that gives +12v when the dash lights are on for stereos that light up (like some stock ones). Make sure that's not touching anything

you need a dedicated live and gnd to and from the battery - this will stop the whining.
It always does the trick. It may be your live picking up the interference just as much as the gnd.
You will also find the stereo will work better if it has a dedicated supply as this will allow the head units' built in amp to get all the juice it needs and work to maximum efficiency.
(make sure the feed wires you use are of a decent size/amperage).
