    Electrical mystery

Headlight washer pump fails, check relay (remove and replace) and it works again !Blown headlight bulb, no problem replaced all 4 with usual precautions. Next day empty fuel tank warning with gauge not reading (fuel tank full), no problem me thinks fuel sender dying. Next time on all OK again. This morning get into car to find fan on and will not go off with ignition. Will turn off at dash switch.

Can anyone unravel a common link as 'lighting does not strike 4 times in a row'

Sounds like they have a common circuit and something is not quite right, has it been raining heavily in your area (I know living in england/scotland thats normal)

You could check that no water has managed to get down by the fuse box which could help with a couple of those problems.

Whats the voltage across the battery with the engine running, 13.5-13.8vdc. Any higher and the regulator has failed.

Switch off before you 'fry' any more components. Friends ecu was killed by this.

      Hope its not this.

        How old is the battery?
We had a number of strange electrical gremlins with our A3 tdi. I changed the battery and haven't had an issue since.

All problems gone again ? Battery says 14v on dash. Yes its been damp.......and I did leave the fuse box cover off after light bulb change (fan fault stopped when I replaced it!)
Battery must be in decent condition as it stood for 2 weeks in October when on hols and started first time unlike previous S2 after similar period
