check out earth wire: the current goes both ways. if you have the bad earth wires, you WILL have bad charges at the battery
i have suplied the org earth wire from batt to the engine with a 70mm(!!) and have it in a 10mm bolt in the block, with star washer...
REALLY BAD wires in audi/vw gives some really pain in the ***!
the generator gives main + to the starter, and main + may be damaged somehow too.
spec if you have the batt in the coupe( under backseat)
look out in right front wheelhousing, upon the frame. the main + goes there, and the seering mai have damaged the wire thereLeave a comment:

David, let us know if the 15v VR solves the charging problem. Mine only fires up to charge mode after about 2K too and Voltage doest go above 13V.Leave a comment:

I was just reading that very thread. I wasn't aware of a 15V VR being available.
My standard Bosch VR is relatively new (about 1 year old). My alternator belt is slipping when under load so I'll start from there.
Cheers.Leave a comment:

yep, battery as flat as a pancake, only seems to charge when revs get above 2k rpm. Ordered a new VR but Bosch supplied replacement is wrong part.
Just dug a load of S2 related info up on another thread and found the 15v version which had been mentioned a few times so will go for that
Hope you get it sorted

Have you got charging problems? My alternator seems to be working intermittently at the moment. I've still to take a look at it. Being intermittent by its very nature could prove fun when fault finding.
We'll see.

Hi David, the part number you are looking for is 034 903 015 F. I don't have the Bosch number to hand. HTH.
034 903 017 BX is the exchange item part number should you need it.Leave a comment:
