    Dash Digital Temp Gauge

I've found myself looking a lot more at the outside temp display in recent weeks.
What's quite annoying is that it's impossible to read at night as there is no backlight.

I thought I should ask if this is just a case of blown bulb or, a mod required to get the
display lit up..... Anyone any advice on this?

    Cheers,

It is 'supposed' to be lit up. you can replace the lamp with another or an led if you are any use with a soldering iron, just do a search you will find the guide

On this topic, has anyone got a spare display for sale?

A "cj70m" 3mm miniature LED from maplins, a bit of soldering and you'll have illumination at night again.
Tip, don't completely unsolder the old bulb, just snip it off and leave it's old legs sticking up, trim down the LED's legs to the correct length and resolder to the old.
Two reasons for this, the holes on the pcb are tiny, and I mean tiny, you'll have to enlarge then them to insert new LED's legs and that leaves hardly any track on both the top and bottom of the pcb, second is the longer you faff around with a soldering iron on the pcb, the more likely you are the heat damage the components on it.

Remember to determine the correct orientation of the LED (cathode and anode), it'll only work one way round.

See >>>> here for a run through, though it must be noted that I've seen three different types of ATD pcb's and they all had different components to the pictures on Mikes site.

          Jas..

          Jas is spot on too...

I "tried" to do mine and killed the pcb with too much heat. I am also on the look out for another one...

          Cheers,

You are also able to get the filament bulb from maplins too which has the tiny legs on it, managed to replace mine with the filament bulb quite easily.

Also when changing to an LED its been mentioned before that a little blob of glue from a glue gun on top of the LED helps to disperse the light better and not get so much of a spot where the LED is
