They are the same for 3B, ABY, ADU and lots of other engines on the B3/B4 family.

Dunno if you saw the TDi threads today, but it would appear that the 1Z TDi engine had its own special treatment wrt cruise control as I think it must have been one of the 1st drive-by-wire ECUs from Audi and so cruise was done differently on those.

There is no interaction between ECU on S2 or RS2 with the cruise controller... And the wiring loom picks up on a standard connector location in the wiring loom. ELectrically this is pretty easy - I think the trickier bit is sourcing the right brackets and fixings for the vacuum servo which I understand are different per engine type to accomodate different throttle cable implementations.

Can you get the schematics for a 3B?

    You're welcome scotsman.

Once you have the RS2 bracket/holder for the diaphragm it's easy and logical......you'll see
I went banana myself cause i had the holder from another 5 cylinders motor...

I can dig up schematics for this if anyone needs them... I assume those articles explain the correct location to hook up to the vehicle wiring loom for the CC option.

I might look into doing this retrofit myself, assuming I can locate the bits for the right price.

Best thing to do (i didì recently on the cabrio but i've done the same on the RS2) is buying the brackets for your specific model in this case RS2 at Audi dealer
Believe me they will cost you few quids but it's the only way to do a proper job
However the pump sits just behind the ABS block on the lefthandrive version
wiring and tube will go inside the footwell trough a rubber seal that has already passages you'll need just to open them up with scissors (no noise from the engine compartiment if you do so)
Vacum membrane with is specific bracket will be fixed on the two nuts on the back and low of the intake collector where you have now two brown ground wires
the arm with the "spheric" connection will then come up between the collector and the pressure regulator at the back end of the injectors rail that you can see on the picture you posted it's a tiny passage but it does go trough there that is the reason you must use the bracket for the RS2 otherwise it will not have the correct angle and distance.....

Loose up the nuts put on the bracket with vacuum membrane on and tight up everything together.

The german guide worked perfectly for me with google translator from german to english and........ i'm italian so....

    Stefano

    P.S.

I will post some pictures of my engine bay with everything you require tomorrow anyway.

I just can't see how the linkage rod is gonna get through from underneath...
You found any pictures of yours?

    Thanks,

Ah... cool. That makes more sense. A pic would be much appreciated.

Also, the picture I have of the vacuum pump mounting obviously doesn't have the strut brace going across the compartment... not sure where I can attach my pump to...

The end of the rod fits over a spherical ball on the throttle mechanism. On your drawing, and on the picture I already have, this ball faces upwards. On the ADU however, it faces backwards. This suggests that the diaphragm needs to be mounted much further back from where I had expected...

pretty sure it attaches to the underside of the throttle body rather than the top as with the 7A.

    Don't know if this helps:

"Note the mounting bracket and rod length differ for each engine, the rest of the CC system is the same for each engine type."

I was after a picture of what this bracket might look like on the ADU/ABY.
