couple of questions about electrics.
1) what is the single spade connector for on the power side of the head unit wiring loom?


2) I have a bit of loom with a label on it reading "L7 - 895.971.733 B MKR 15.02.90". The red connector is there but the black one has been cut off. What are these connectors for please? red one has part number 3570354478 I think (very small letters), although Rob has checked and not had any joy.

3) I connected this chap to the corresponding place on the brake pedal and when I braked the left side repeater lit up. Only noticed because I was putting the car into the garage and it reflected off the wall. What the hell does that mean? I haven't been able to check the other lights. I'll need an assistant for that. It still lit up proper;y when indicating or with hazzards on

If you braked and the left side repeater lit up it sounds like an earthing problem somewhere on that side of the car, possibly where the front/rear lights get earthed out most likely rears. Was it bright or dim how much it lit up?

aha! earthing eh? I'll need to dig in and see where the wiring earths in the rear. or the front. hmm.
I think it must have been quite bright because it wasn't totally dark outside and it was only because it was raining heavily that the garage was dark enough for me to notice. Def not dim anyway.

I had it on a few cars like my old coupe gt as the earth for the rear light was bad so it gives a disco effect on the rear lights.

i'll get to work on my 'fro immediately and aquire myself suitable threads.
So are the light clusters at the back individually earthed to the body or is there one earth point where the loom comes through the boot?

Nice afro, on the early one's it had a specific earth point I have not checked these one's but i'd have thought so.
