You need 257C or 257D
I'm in midst of an 'electrics demystified guide' on this one - I know that a lot of folk struggle with electrics so I'm trying to explain it in simple terms there.
In theory - yes you could have 1TWU/D on all windows but you'd need to add 6 wires to the loom and have an expanded controller that has another 6 (or maybe 3) relays inside - not easy to graft onto B3/B4 but with a custom controller box (maybe using solid state relays to save space) and some electrical work - this could be done and extended to a lovely 'comfort closure' feature that could also be triggered by a tweaked central locking system... As per introduced on B5 models where you lock the car and either hold the key or remote button to have all the windees and roof close automatically (or open when unlocking the car). All possible given enough time and brain power.Paul Nugent

Great idea
Would you consider putting together a kit that you could sell?
Cheers mis amigos,

I dunno if I'll have time to do that, but I might cook up the outline design with enough info for anyone else to make such a thing... There's a few manufacturing folk on here who might be able to help with building such a thing in small volumes. I'd design it such that it works as a 'comfort interface' between the central locking controller and the windows. Tricky bit might be the sunroof as I think that wires will need to be run up to the switch - need to check that.
Anyway - meantime - I've updated http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/ with info on the electric windows - should make it much easier for people to understand this 1-touch nonsense and how to test switches, motors and the relay module itself. Hope that is useful.Paul Nugent

I have a 97 a4 1,8Tq as a daily driver, it has 1TWU/D on both sides up front. could you not take window relay from one of theese and put in a ABY S2?? Or am i out of this world now?? Car electrics are NOT my strong side.Comment

If only it was that simple... 1TWU/D on B5 and other more recent models is totally different - there are load/position sensors integrated on the window motors with lots of extra wires required - there is no way to just swap over the relays as the B5 relay relies on feedback from B5 window motors about when to turn 1-touch movements off.
I checked on the sunroof situation and yes - two new wires would need to be extended up to the sunroof switch to make any form of "comfort feature'' work there... Dunno how possible it is to tease back roof liner for that without causing damage. Otherwise a comfort module would be quite easy to graft ont the B3/B4 as long as it had the remote locking adaptor as I also dunno if the doorlock switches from a B5 would transfer to B3/B4... allowing 1-touch to be triggered by the key in the door.Paul Nugent

Sorry for digging up this thread again...
At times I hate this forum..... I had never bothered me that my lady didn't have one touch closure....
It does now.... Dam - Dest you have alot to answer for mate..
As I understand it all I need to get this working is a different relay with a different suffix letter on it and a quick soldering job on the pins... Correct?
My question is where can I get hold of one of these later relays without having to go to a scappy... (dont have time and hate those places...)

Does the S2 have the same feature as urs4, first lock your doors and then turn the key on the door lock to the other side and hold it there. All windows will close as long as you hold the key? Can't remember if the sunroof will close too.Now quattro less, my urs4 stolen 13.8Comment

AFAIK Later models have it fitted....
But thats not what this thread is about....
It's one touch closure on the windows - like one touch open whilst driving!!

Dont think so, unless very late models had. My 94 S2 doesnt, but the 93 S4 does.91CQ20v - Gone to a new home

Strange my 1993 (1994 Model) has it fitted...
Unless it was an option as mine does seem to have been fully loaded for an early spec car.... Why any one down south would want a sky holder is beyond me!!
Its now linked to the self closure on the alarm...
